1.49 PERSONALITY DISORDER (PD) -- PSYCHOLOGY ABUSE TERMS, CONCEPTS==== Personality Disorder (PD) MEANING: Known as PDs the following are recognized: paranoid, schizoid, schizotypal, histrionic, narcissistic, borderline, avoidant, dependent, and obsessive-compulsive. In adolescence or the early twenties, traits of PDs often begin to show that are dysfunctional in the extreme; people with PDs are generally uncompromising and inflexible. People can have more than one personality disorder at the same time. RELEVANCE TO ABUSE: Many abusive people are suffering from personality disorders. The PD might be at the core of their abusive behavior.
