1.65 WEB, ENTANGLEMENTS -- PSYCHOLOGY ABUSE TERMS, CONCEPTS==== Web - Entanglements MEANING: Each personality has web of needs, obligations, family, etc. He or she may also have a web of meaning or way of communicating which is functional or dysfunctional. RELEVANCE TO ABUSE: An abusive person may appear to be all sweetness and light in the beginning. However, after you begin to understand their personal web, a darker side may appear. You may find yourself swept up in activities you do not like or approve of, for example, but that you did not know about in the beginning. PERSONAL NOTE FROM RICK DOBLE: This is one of my own words that I like to use. It describes the entanglements we often find ourselves in, the web we become a part of without understanding how we became a part. You don't just get involved with another person, for example, you become involved with their web as well. When you get involved with another you are entering that person's web as he or she is entering your web. RELATED WORDS AND PHRASES: network, interconnected, support system, mission creep |
