1.41 MISSION CREEP -- PSYCHOLOGY ABUSE TERMS, CONCEPTS

==== Mission Creep

MEANING: A military term that means the original objectives of a mission are being expanded to include other things. Mission creep is a variation on "well while you're doing that, you might as well do this."

RELEVANCE TO ABUSE: Abusive and manipulative people have a way of getting the abused to agree do one seemingly simple thing. However, the abused soon finds that the abuser expects a number of additional things as well, things that were never mentioned originally.

EXAMPLE: This old joke is an example of mission creep -- When you are up to your butt in alligators, it's hard to remember that you came to drain the pool.
