==== Support

MEANING: Helping, aiding, encouraging the efforts of the abused person to deal with abuse.

MORE ABOUT SUPPORT: It is very hard to do things on your own. It's difficult to know that what you are doing is right. Support removes you from isolation and also reinforces your feeling that you are on the correct path. Friendship and community are vital to finding support, knowing where it is available and being part of a network.

RELEVANCE TO ABUSE: Abusers often want you to stay away from friends and those who will listen and let you work through your problems. They want to isolate you so that you have no point of reference other than their abuse.
