MEANING: Rules or boundaries.

RELEVANCE TO ABUSE: Preventing abuse is about setting limits. Boundary and personal space are about limits as are rules for behavior such as shouting, hitting, double standards, etc. Generally the abusive person has set many limits and the abused person has been allowed to set very few. In a recovery process, the abused person needs to set limits of acceptable behavior and the abusive person needs to be less demanding.
