1.18 DIRECT, DIRECTNESS -- PSYCHOLOGY ABUSE TERMS, CONCEPTS

==== Direct, Directness

MEANING: Straight, straightforward, immediate, concise, clear

RELEVANCE TO ABUSE: Abusers tend to hide their intentions behind a smoke screen. Being direct is both healthy and makes it harder for the abuser to hide.

PERSONAL NOTE FROM RICK DOBLE: The more direct your communication the healthier it will be. This means you should always say what you mean and not assume the other people understand. For example, if you feel ill one day, you should openly tell the people in your life so that they realize you are sick and not in a bad mood.

RELATED WORDS AND PHRASES: not roundabout, not convoluted, not redundant, clarity
