1.11 INTERGENERATIONAL CYCLE OF ABUSE -- TYPES AND CATEGORIES OF ABUSIVE BEHAVIOR==== Intergenerational Cycle Of Abuse MEANING: The abuse that is passed from father to son or daughter, parent to child, sibling to sibling etc. PERSONAL NOTE FROM RICK DOBLE: Abuse is learned behavior. Unfortunately it is usually learned at an early age. The chain or cycle of abuse is like a family disease that will not be cured or eradicated. In a large extended family of aunts, uncles, and cousins, the abusive behavior may be wide spread. Because the behavior is so deep and so ingrained in the older generation, it is going to be up to the younger members to break the cycle, to teach both their parents and their children. This is going to be difficult as parents will be reluctant to learn from their children. However, there is really no choice. In severe cases, counseling may help. === More About The Cycle Of Abuse |
