4.04 BAD LISTENER, YELLING, NAME CALLING, ENDLESS ARGUING -- THIRTY-FOUR EXAMPLES OF ABUSIVE BEHAVIOR

==== Abusers are bad listeners

Often they do not hear what you say, or cut you off.

==== An abuser often starts raising his/her voice and then yelling when the discussion is not going the way he/she wants.

Loud talk can often intimidate you because it is an escalation and you may have to decide if you want to expend a lot of energy arguing or simply give in for the sake of keeping the peace.

==== Abusers often use name calling.

This is an attempt to push your buttons; most of us have one or two names that we do not like.

==== Abusers often will argue endlessly until you agree.

You may simply get tired and give in just to stop the discussion. Note: Giving in is a bad idea because next time it will be even harder for you to win.
